Egyptian archaeologist Dr. Zahi Hawass met a high-level British delegation in front of the Sphinx. The delegation included intellectuals, writers, university professors and public figures.

Hawass assured the delegation that the Sphinx belongs to King Khafre, the founder of the Second Pyramid.

Hawass stressed that the claims that say that there is a missing city under the Sphinx are baseless, and have no scientific evidence at all, noting: “We have pictures of the excavation works carried out under the Sphinx, these pictures portray "Sphinx" as a solid rock, below which there are no corridors.”

Hawass talked about the recent archaeological discoveries of the Ministry of Antiquities and his excavations in the Valley of monkeys in the Western Valley.

He also talked about Tutankhamun's opera, which will be displayed during the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum.

Hawass added that the most important discovery in the 21st century is the discovery of Wadi al-Jarf papyri, which revealed many secrets about the construction of the Great Pyramid (Khufu).

He stressed that these archaeological discoveries greatly promote Egyptian tourism all over the world.

The Egyptian archaeologist pointed out that next February, the whole world will know how the golden pharaoh Tutankhamun died, through the National Project for Studying the Royal Mummies at the Egyptian Museum.
