French club Stade Rennais have officially dismissed head coach Habib Beye on Monday evening, following the team’s recent downturn in form.

The decision comes a day after Rennes suffered a 3–1 defeat to Lens on Sunday in Ligue 1, a result that intensified pressure on the Senegalese coach.

In a statement published on the club’s official social media channels, Stade Rennais confirmed the termination of Beye’s duties and announced the initiation of legal procedures against him and his coaching staff.

“Stade Rennais has begun legal proceedings against its head coach, Mr. Habib Beye, and his assistants, Mr. Olivier Saragaglia, Mr. Sébastien Pichard, and Mr. Yann Kaveza,” the club said.

The statement added that, pending a final decision, Sébastien Tambouret, Pierre-Alexandre Lelièvre, and Maxime Le Marchand will take charge of first-team training until further notice.

Despite currently sitting sixth in the Ligue 1 standings with 31 points, Rennes’ management opted for a change amid growing concerns over performances and a visible decline in confidence within the squad.

Beye was appointed head coach in January 2025, arriving with a reputation as a manager capable of stabilizing struggling projects and restoring cohesion.

However, he was ultimately unable to resolve what the club described as a deepening crisis, both on and off the pitch.

During his tenure, Beye oversaw 39 matches in all competitions, recording 18 wins, seven draws, and 14 defeats.

While the club initially showed patience and a willingness to grant him more time, a combination of poor results, eroding trust, and declining performances convinced the board that a managerial change had become unavoidable.
