The Sri Lankan authorities announced a curfew to confront the violent unrest in the country, according to urgent news for Al Arabiya TV.
Yesterday, the government decided to impose a state of emergency due to the protests against the backdrop of the economic crisis, and earlier, the British newspaper, "The Guardian", said that nearly 50 people were injured after the security forces fired tear gas canisters and water cannons to push back a crowd that stormed the house of Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, amid anger with the government is dealing with the country's worsening economic crisis.
The crisis, the worst in the country, has caused great discontent, as people have been unable to find cooking gas, medicine, fuel, and basic foodstuffs such as powdered milk because the country has run out of foreign currency to pay for imported goods.
