Spanish Foreign Minister (FM) José Manuel Albares on Friday deemed the situation in the occupied West Bank, where Israel has been conducting a bloody military operation for three days, as "completely unacceptable."
During a press conference at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs following a meeting with his French counterpart, Stéphane Séjourné, Albares stated, "The outbreak of violence in the West Bank is absolutely unacceptable."
He added that "this does not contribute to establishing peace" and "puts the two-state solution at risk."
Albares reiterated Madrid's condemnation of Israeli settlements, saying that "the situation in the West Bank is marked by constant violence."
The Israeli operation in the northern West Bank has raised concerns at the United Nations, which warned of the risk of "further deterioration of the already catastrophic situation" in the Palestinian territories, as the war between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip intensifies.
