The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) released its global rankings for October 2025, revealing headline-grabbing shifts among the world’s top teams.

Spain maintained their grip on the top spot following two consecutive victories, reinforcing their lead from the previous update and effectively ending Argentina’s dominance that had lasted since April 2023.

However, the reigning world champions are not far behind. Argentina climbed back to second place, surpassing France after Les Bleus were held to a 2-2 draw against Iceland in the European qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, which will be hosted across Canada, the United States, and Mexico.

Germany also made a notable return to the top 10 after a brief absence, overtaking Croatia, which dropped points in their European qualifying campaign.

Meanwhile, the Netherlands jumped ahead of Brazil following the Seleção’s 2-3 loss to Japan in a friendly encounter.

This latest ranking follows an eventful international window featuring 173 teams worldwide, encompassing World Cup qualifiers across five continents along with a series of friendlies.

Regarding the top 10 teams in FIFA’s october 2025 world ranking, it is as follows:

Spain

Argentina
