The Spanish authorities declared a state of emergency in the country and suspended school classes and also stopped the railways due to the wave of heavy rains that flooded the streets and many hospitals, homes and facilities.
The Spanish newspaper El Pais indicated that more than 3,000 people were evacuated in the province of Malaga, east of Tarragona, and the coastal area of Valencia, and a red alert was declared, due to storms that could empty up to 180 liters per square meter, within a few hours, and could cause floods again after the one in Valencia that killed about 220 people.
The Spanish Meteorological Agency (AEMET) sent a comprehensive alert to mobile phones in the province of Malaga warning of the "extreme danger" looming, and some rainwater channels in Malaga have already shown the first flood since the morning hours.
