On Thursday, the Somali Ministry of Foreign Affairs retracted a remark regarding the war between the Ethiopian federal government and the forces of the Northern Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF). according to Russia Today (RT).

In a post on Twitter, the Somali Foreign Ministry had expressed its concern about the ongoing fighting in Ethiopia, confirming its support for the unity of Ethiopia, and calling for a peaceful solution to the conflict. But later the post was deleted.

Then, Somali Foreign Minister Ahmed Issa Awad announced that there is no official statement issued by the ministry regarding the ongoing war in Ethiopia, noting that what was published on his ministry's website does not represent the vision of the federal government.

It is worth mentioning that, the Ethiopian federal government announced that army troops are marching toward Tigray’s capital, Mekelle, to end the conflict that was erupted in the African country two-weeks ago with Tigrayan forces.

In turn, Tigray’s regional authorities responded by saying they would never surrender. “Tigray is now a hell to its enemies.”

The crisis has worsened the suffering for many of the people in the region who already depended on food aid.
