Social Housing: Egypt's Population Live on 13.5% of Country's Area

Eng. Mai Abdel Hamid, CEO of the Social Housing Fund, confirmed that the state is determined, under the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, to implement housing projects for all categories of the Egyptian people.

She stressed that the construction boom that occurred during the past 7 years is unprecedented and we are talking about numbers, adding, in a telephone interview with the TV anchor, Syed Ali, presenter of the program, "Hadrat Al-Muwatin", which is aired on Al-Hadath satellite channel, that the plan is to reach the area of ​​the populated area to more than double the area we used to live on.

She pointed out that the plan aims to increase the percentage of the area in which we live to 14 %  of the whole area of the country by 2030.

Therefore these plans were completed ahead of schedule, and there are large urban expansions in many areas after we live on 13.5% of the total area of Egypt.

Abdel Hamid said that urban expansion brings great opportunities for everyone, positively affects the entire sector, and provides job opportunities and small and medium projects, noting that Egyptians currently live on 13.5% of the area of ​​Egypt, which means double the area we used to live on.

However, a recent report issued by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics last March, in the booklet "Egypt in Figures 2018," revealed that there are 14 of the total 27 governorates of the Republic, the population of which lives on areas that did not exceed 17% of the total area. Giza, Suez", and a number of Upper Egypt governorates.

The inhabited areas came in each of the 14 governorates with a total population of 44 million and 501 thousand and 900 people, whose residents live in areas that did not exceed 17% or less than the total area of ​​the governorate, according to the statistical report.
