President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met today with Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, Engineer Tariq Al-Mulla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Dr. El-Sayyed Al-Qusayr, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, and Lieut. Gen. Ahmed Khaled, Commander of the Naval Forces.
The President also met with Luc Lewis, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Belgian Demi Dredging Company, and a number of senior officials of the company, in the presence of Admiral Mohamed Fikry, Assistant Commander of the Naval Forces for Engineering Affairs, and Commodore Ashraf El Assal, Head of the Marine Survey Division Naval Colonel Muhammad al-Makhzanji, head of the Political Analysis Department, at the Naval Forces Command.
"The meeting dealt with following up on the current and future projects of "Demi" company in Egypt, as well as the general plan for the development of Lake Bardawil in North Sinai," Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady said.
Sisi directed the government to integrate Lake Bardawil Development Project with the general strategic framework for the development of Sinai.
He stressed that all parties should provide all the success factors for the project, especially technical studies, and management competence, to stabilize the level of production and achieve the desired development results of the project.
The meeting reviewed the general plan of the project, which aims to exploit fisheries in Lake Bardawil and develop it from all aspects, which was formulated in partnership with the largest international expertise offices, as well as presenting the investment returns expected from this project, given the unique location of Lake Bardawil on the Mediterranean and its advantages.
The lake, rich in fish, in addition to the job opportunities that will be provided by developing it, will enhance food security, economic returns, as well as restoring the ecological balance of the lake, improving the type and quality of water.
The plan also aims to create a positive impact on the development of the entire North Sinai region.
Radi added that the meeting also touched on cooperation with the "Demi" company to establish clean energy generation stations from new and renewable energy sources in Egypt, in order to maximize their use alongside traditional energy sources and to exploit the advanced infrastructure that Egypt has in the field of power generation in general.
Egypt possesses the world's largest solar energy station in Benban in Aswan Governorate, some 900km south of Cairo, as well as wind power plants in the Red Sea region.
