President Abdel Fattah El Sisi followed-up Thursday on progress in the implementation of the state’s strategy for the localization of electric vehicles’ manufacturing in Egypt.
During a meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Minister of Transport Lieutenant General Kamel Wazir, Sisi asked concerned authorities to boost cooperation with the private sector companies to localize the manufacturing of electric vehicles in Egypt.
The meeting was also attended by Chairman of the Board of Directors of Mansour Chevrolet Group, Mr. Mohamed Mansour, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of General Motors, Mr. Tarek Atta, and CEO of General Motors for the Middle East and Africa, Mr. Loay El Shorafa.
This comes within the framework of implementing the state’s strategy for green transition, taking into account the significant and positive return on the state and citizens economically, environmentally and health wise.
This shall take place while ensuring economical car costs and working in an integrated manner in partnership with the private sector. This is in addition to spreading the infrastructure for electric vehicle charging stations at the largest scale across the republic, including fast charging stations.
