Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi will travel on Friday to India to participate in the G20 Leaders’ Summit in New Delhi.

The G20 Leaders Summit is held from September 9-10 at the newly-built Bharat Mandapam International Exhibition-Convention Centre at the revamped Pragati Maidan complex.

The visit comes at the invitation of his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi.

On the sidelines of the summit, Sisi will hold bilateral meetings with international leaders and officials over various issues of common interest.

More than four dozen heads of state and leaders of international organizations will gather in New Delhi to deliberate on global issues such as the economy, financial stability, climate change mitigation, and sustainable development.

The G20 forum was founded in 1999 after the Asian financial crisis as a forum for the Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors to address issues related to the global economy.

It has annually brought together heads of state since 2008, establishing the G20 Leaders’ Summit as one of the most high-profile geopolitical assemblies.
