President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on Saturday received EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas in Cairo, in talks focused on strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership between Egypt and the European Union and enhancing coordination on regional and international developments.

The meeting, attended by Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aaty and senior EU officials, reviewed the rapid progress in Egypt-EU relations, with both sides stressing the importance of implementing the outcomes of the first Egypt-EU Summit held in Brussels in October 2025. The European side confirmed that the second tranche of the EU financial support package for Egypt will be disbursed in the coming days, reflecting growing confidence in the partnership.

Discussions covered political, security, economic, and investment cooperation, with President El-Sisi underlining the need to expand trade and attract European investment, given Egypt’s role as a regional economic hub and its broad reform and infrastructure agenda. The EU expressed interest in further developing economic ties and launching the first Egypt-EU security and defence dialogue in March 2026.

The talks also addressed joint efforts to combat terrorism, organized crime, and irregular migration, alongside broader coordination to support regional stability.

On Gaza, both sides stressed the need for full implementation of the ceasefire agreement, ensuring the uninterrupted flow of humanitarian aid, rejecting any forced displacement of Palestinians, and accelerating reconstruction efforts. They reaffirmed commitment to reviving the political process toward a comprehensive and lasting peace based on the two-state solution.

The meeting further reviewed developments in Libya, Sudan, Syria, Lebanon, Iran, and Ukraine, with emphasis on resolving conflicts through peaceful means, preserving state unity, and avoiding military escalation that could destabilize the wider region.
