Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry and his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov discussed, on Friday, bilateral ties, as well as a number of regional and international issues of common interests over the phone, according to Russia Today (RT).
In an official statement, the Russian Foreign Ministry said, "The ministers discussed the prospects for cementing bilateral relations based on the Treaty on Comprehensive Partnership and Strategic Cooperation signed in 2018."
"They exchanged views on regional and international issues with a focus on the coordination of efforts to resolve the crises in the Middle East and North Africa, including Libya and Syria, by political and diplomatic means," the ministry added.
It is worth mentioning that, Shoukry arrived in Moscow on an official visit on Tuesday to meet with a number of Russian officials.
On Thursday, the Egyptian foreign minister met Secretary of Russia’s Security Council Nikolai Patrushev and the Russian Minister of Industry.
