Egyptian superstar Sherine was referred to the Sheikh Zayed Misdemeanour Court on accusations of slander and defamation.

The lawsuit, criminal case No. 2070 of 2023, was filed by producer Mohamed Al-Shaer, who claims the singer insulted, slandered, and defamed him without a cause in a video from her press conference on social media.

The Anti-Information Technology Investigations at the Ministry of the Interior received a complaint from the producer accusing the singer of defaming him without a cause, by sharing the video online.

Al-Shaer also added that he was insulted in the comments section on Instagram after the video was uploaded.

The Public Prosecution opened a judicial investigation into the incident and requested a technical examination report from the Ministry of Interior.

The report concluded that the incident had occurred and that the slander and defamation remarks against Al-Shaer were confirmed.

The Public Prosecution also requested the report of the Cybersecurity Agency, which verified the authenticity of the video.

It summoned Sherine to hear her statements regarding the accusations, however, she didn't attend the investigations, claiming she had coronavirus.

As a result, the Public Prosecutor referred her to the Sheikh Zayed Misdemeanour Court on Saturday, February 3.
