Egyptian actor Sherif Mounir announced Monday on Instagram he and his wife, Laura Emad were splitting up to his fans only to retract it hours later after deciding he wanted to stay married after all.
The acclaimed actor's fans have believed that he maintained a stable marriage for 20 years with his wife, who retired from acting in 2001 following her marriage to Mounir.
However, Emad shocked the public by revealing that there were differences between her and her daughters, Farida and Camelia. She posted a video showing Mounir with their daughters and reproaching them for leaving her and choosing another life and other people.
Mounir has been avoiding talking about Emad in the past period despite her leaving months ago and opening up about disagreements with their daughters, who moved away from her to live with their father.
Emad and Mounir tied the knot after they lost Nahid, his first wife and Emad's friend, in a long and brave battle with cancer.
During her career, Emad starred in many TV and film productions before moving away from the artistic scene following her marriage before resuming her career in 2021 with the story "W Ansa rohy Wayak” from season 4 of the TV series “Naseeby We Esmetak.” The series witnessed her first role in 20 years.
