Egypt's Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Sherif Fathy, presided over the inaugural meeting of the Board of Directors of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) Authority since his appointment to the ministerial role. This meeting took place at the museum's headquarters located in Al-Ramyah Square.
The Minister commenced the session by extending a warm welcome to the Board members and familiarizing himself with them.
During the course of the meeting, the minutes from the previous Board session were approved, along with the revised financial statements and the final account of the Museum Authority for the fiscal year 2023/2024. This was conducted in the presence of representatives from the Central Auditing Organization and officials from the financial and administrative department of the Museum.
The specialists within the Museum Authority, along with the Governance and Internal Audit Committee established by a prior Board decision, were instructed to collaborate on implementing the necessary executive actions.
The meeting also included an update for the council members regarding the latest progress in the museum's operations.
Atef Moftah, the General Supervisor of the Museum Project and its surrounding area, revealed that all construction work within the museum and its primary exhibition halls had been finalized, confirming that the museum is now prepared to welcome both Egyptian and international visitors and tourists.
Moreover, the outcomes of the Cabinet meetings were shared, focusing on the ongoing execution of projects within the museum and its vicinity, as well as discussing the advancements in the operation of the museum's services, including updates on the implementation of the contract with the service operating company.
