“IRSC” Renewable Energy Solutions has announced the enhancement of Sharm El-Sheikh International Airport with sustainable solar energy, and its transformation into an environmentally friendly green facility, supported by the latest sustainable solutions being implemented for the first time in Egypt.
The company announced that it had been selected to equip Sharm El-Sheikh International Airport in line with the Climate Summit “COP27”, the unique event hosted by Egypt for the first time, stressing that the company has developed an integrated plan that includes the design, implementation and operation of Sharm El-Sheikh Airport, in the field of sustainability and environmental preservation, in line with Also with the successive changes taking place in the world’s energy map, in addition to providing green mobility services with various logistics services through its “SulleX” brand.
She confirmed that the airport has been fed with solar energy needed for operation, which produces 472 megawatts per hour, in addition to providing 280 kilowatts of solar photovoltaic energy, to serve the parking spaces, on an area of 2,000 square meters.
Susie Friedrich, managing director of the company, said that it will inject direct investments amounting to one billion pounds during the next five years, with the aim of spreading sustainable transport solutions and green logistics, in all fields, especially the field of agriculture, and transforming Egyptian cities into green cities, in line with Egypt's vision for sustainable development. 2030.
The project to transform Sharm El-Sheikh International Airport into a green facility is just the beginning, and the company’s contributions to Egyptian airports will come in succession, consolidating Egypt’s sustainable environmental endeavors across the African continent.”
IRSC and an Arab company, TAQA, cooperated to operate a solar power plant for Dina Farms in Sadat City, to generate 6 megawatts of electric power, to secure its energy needs in a sustainable manner, in addition to the opening of a 5 megawatt solar power plant in Soma Bay, Red Sea Governorate.
