Egyptian Ambassador to Serbia Bassil Salah met with Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Đurić to congratulate him on assuming his new position.
Salah presented the congratulatory letter addressed to Đurić by Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry.
He emphasized the remarkable leap witnessed in bilateral relations between the two countries in recent times since President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's historic visit to Serbia in July 2022, which led to a qualitative shift in the scope of political coordination and economic and cultural cooperation between the two countries.
For his part, Serbian Foreign Minister Đurić expressed his appreciation to Egypt, its leadership, government, and people, stressing the depth of Egyptian-Serbian relations and the strategic partnership that unites the two countries.
He described Egypt as a "sisterly state" with which Serbia has had a long-standing historical friendship throughout the ages, highlighting the distinction of political relations in recent times and the high level of joint coordination between the two countries in all international and multilateral organizations and forums.
The meeting also discussed political developments on the international and regional arenas, in addition to the economic and humanitarian repercussions of the war in Gaza, as well as developments in the political situation in the Western Balkans region and the international community's efforts to support ways to calm and stabilize the region.
