Dr. Mohamed Ismail Khaled, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, inspected the latest developments in the project to develop the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir, improve its services, as well as the museum display scenario, and infrastructure.
He was accompanied during the tour by Mr. Moamen Othman, Head of the Museums Sector, Dr. Ali Abdel Halim, Director General of the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir, and the museum's agents.
The tour included the museum's exhibition halls, restoration laboratories, and the service area.
The Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities was also keen to meet with all archaeologists, restorers, and museum workers in their various departments to listen to their opinions and suggestions for developing the museum's work system and improving the efficiency of its human element, in addition to solving any problems they may face to facilitate the workflow. He also appreciated the great role they play as trustees and restorers in the museum, which is one of the most important and oldest museums in the world.
During the tour, Mr. Moamen Othman and Dr. Ali Abdel Halim reviewed the work that has been completed on the museum development project in the previous period, whether those implemented by the Supreme Council of Antiquities or through the museum development project that is being implemented in cooperation with the European Union in an alliance of five European museums: the British Museum, the Louvre Museum, the Turin Museum, the Leiden Museum, and the Berlin Museum.
Dr. Mohamed Ismail Khaled was briefed on the vision and strategic plan that the Museums Sector and the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir are working to implement to ensure that the museum is developed like its counterparts in major world museums.
He also inspected the work that has been implemented to improve the tourist experience at the museum, which comes in light of one of the most prominent main axes for developing tourism in Egypt.
