SCZone Explores Opportunities with European Partners

Walid Gamal El-Din, head of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) confirmed that the zone aims to enhance cooperation with European companies and institutions, pointing to effective steps to complete huge projects by preparing infrastructure and facilities with international specifications in ports and industrial zones.

This came during his participation in extensive meetings with the European Commissioner for Neighborhood Policy, and the Director-General of the General Administration for Neighborhood and Enlargement of the European Commission.

The Suez Canal Economic Zone stated - in a statement, Friday - that the meetings of the head of the zone came within the framework of his tour to the Belgian capital, Brussels, as part of a high-level Egyptian delegation with the aim of promoting the investment opportunities available in Egypt, and reviewing the efforts made by Egypt through its various institutions in general, and the economic zone in particular, to create a favorable climate for investment, as well as discussing the ongoing preparations for the investment conference scheduled to be held in Egypt this year with the participation of the European Union.

During the meeting, Gamal El-Din pointed out the components of the zone and its competitive advantages, including an important location on the Suez Canal’s navigational course, and integration between its six ports, in addition to the four industrial zones that include about 21 sectors in the field of industry.

He pointed to the facilities provided by Egypt to foreign companies and investors, and their positive impact on the investment climate and competitiveness of the Egyptian economy, stressing the economic zone’s keenness to expand the scope of cooperation with European investment during the coming period.
