Prince Faisal bin Farhan, the Saudi Foreign Minister, and his Iranian counterpart, Hussein Amir Abdollahian, agreed to hold a bilateral meeting between them soon, in order to pave the way for the reopening of embassies and consulates between the two countries.
The two ministers, during a phone call made by the Saudi Foreign Minister, today, exchanged congratulations on the occasion of the month of Ramadan.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Islamic Republic of Iran announced, on the tenth of March, the resumption of diplomatic relations between them, and the reopening of the embassies and representations of the two countries within 60 days, after talks sponsored by China.
The decision to resume relations between the two countries, came as a result of an initiative by Chinese President Xi Jinping to develop relations between Riyadh and Tehran, and the desire of the leadership of the two countries to resolve the differences between them through dialogue and diplomacy.
