On Tuesday, Saudi Arabia sent a letter to the U.N. Security Council, accusing Yemen’s Houthi group of launching a missile attack on a petroleum products distribution plant in Jeddah on Monday.

According to the letter, Saudi U.N. Ambassador Abdallah Al-Mouallimi told the Security Council to stop the Houthi threat to global energy security, Yemen’s political process and regional security.

“It has been identified that the Houthis militia backed by Iran is responsible for the terrorist attack," he added.

He also pointed out that Saudi Arabia would “spare no efforts” to protect its territory and citizens.

On Monday, Yemeni Houthi forces announced that they had fired a missile that struck a Saudi Aramco oil company distribution station in Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea city of Jeddah.

“The strike was very accurate, and ambulances and fire engines rushed to the target,” Houthi spokesman, Yahya Sarea said, adding that the attack was carried out with a Quds-2 type winged missile.

While there is no official confirmation by the Saudi authorities, an official source at Aramco told CNN that the major oil facility in Jeddah “was targeted but not struck,” without providing additional details, stressing at the same time that “there is no damages or causalities yet.”
