Salah Voted Best Egyptian Player in History

Mohamed Salah dominated the poll conducted by Spanish news agency El-Marca on the best Egyptian player in history. The Liverpool sensation topped both former El-Ahly player Mahmoud El-Khatib and former El-Zamalek and Ahly striker Hossam Hassan.

Salah won 90% of the votes in the poll where 508,143 casted votes, compared to 5% Hossam Hassan and 5% for El-Khatib.

El-Marca also conducted the poll in 22 countries including Egypt. Lionel Messi was named Argentina's best player and Pele was named Brazil's best player.

The Marka readers chose Bobby Charlton as the best player in England's history. The late Johan Cruyff was chosen as the best player in Holland's history. Zidane won the best in French history while Cristiano Ronaldo was named the best player in Portuguese history.

Salah is currently enjoying a great season, Topping the league scorers table with 21 goals and 8 assists, only receiving close competition from his teammate Sadio Mane who is currently enjoying 20 goals with one assist, followed by Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero with 19 goals.

The Pride of Egypt was quick to react to critics stating that he was having a bad season, calmly saying he is now scoring more goals than players having their best season. In addition, he is now leading Liverpool in the Premier League tug of war with Manchester City, plus the team’s Semi-Finals clash with Barcelona.
