CAIRO, SEPTEMBER 22(SEE): Liverpool maintained their unbeaten record in the Premier League with a 3-0 win over Southampton at Anfield Stadium.

Wesley Hoedt’s opened the scoring unfortunate own goal that gave Liverpool the early lead in the 10th minute, with Joel Matip’s excellent header doubling their advantage coming 10 minutes later.

Mohamed Salah finally broke his scoring fast and scored the third goal from close range in the 45th minute of the first half. The only low point for Liverpool was that Virgil van Dijk left the field with what looked to be a rib injury shortly after the break.

The win sends Liverpool back to the top of the table, although Chelsea will able to surpass them should they win by two goals against West Ham on Sunday. This also represents the first time in the club's history the Reds have begun a season with seven wins in a row.
