Mohamed Salah guided Liverpool to qualify for the last 16 of the Uefa Champions League after crushing Salzburg with two unanswered goals on Tuesday.

Naby Keïta had given the Uefa Champions League holders the lead in the 57th minute when Sadio Mane lifted a well-played cross to Keita, who planted a header against his former club.

One minute later, Mo Salah doubled his side's lead when he ran on to a pass by Henderson, took the ball away from the keeper and then clipped it into the net.

Salah came so close to open the scoring as early as after only five minutes when Dejan Lovren delivered a well-aimed ball from deep over the top of home defense before Salah took it down and unleashed a shot from 16 yards.

Two minutes later, Liverpool's keeper Alisson Becker was brought into action when Salzburg’s Hwang Hee-chan took on Jordan Henderson and tried to stab the ball over Alisson, who made a sharp one-handed save, preventing Salzburg from taking the lead.

Mane wasted another chance for the Reds when he tried to guide a curler into the bottom corner from just outside the box. In the 29th minute, Keita teed up Salah for a simple finish from 10 yards, but he dragged it wide.

Keita came so close to give the Reds the lead in the 45th minute when Salah played a lovely pass through to Keita, who fired a right-foot shot, but Salzburg’s keeper Stankovic spread himself well to make a vital save.

Mo Salah wasted another serious opportunity when Mane delivered a Gorgeous pass to the iconic Egyptian star, who lifted the ball over the keeper and the bar from 10 yards.

Liverpool qualified for the knock out phase as Group E winners, while Napoli joined the Reds into the last 16 after being ranked second with twelve points.
