South Korea Navy's esteemed Cruise Training Task Group (CTTG) graced the Port of Alexandria, Egypt, on November 24th, marking its ninth global stop.

This visit is part of its monumental 7th circumnavigation, which commemorates the 70th anniversary of the ROKN Cruise Training.

With nearly 460 sailors onboard, including about 150 midshipmen from the 78th class of the ROK Naval Academy (ROKNA), the journey aboard the ROKS Hansando and ROKS Hwacheon signifies a rigorous training and diplomatic mission.

This year’s voyage, led by Commander RDML(s) Cho Choong-Ho, entails a 141-day training period, covering around 30,000 nautical miles (approx. 55,600 km) across 13 ports from 12 countries.

The CTTG, currently on its 7th global voyage, includes a series of significant events such as a wreath-laying ceremony at the Alexandria Naval Unknown Soldier Memorial, onboard receptions, ship tours, and a defense industry exhibition showcasing the prowess of the Korean Defense Industry and the 'Navy Sea Ghost' technology.

The onboard reception, scheduled for the evening of November 24th, aims to strengthen Korea-Egypt naval ties and provide a comforting touch of home for Korean residents in Egypt.

The visit to the Alexandria Naval Unknown Soldier Memorial and the Egyptian Naval Force Command will reinforce diplomatic relations between the two nations.

Midshipmen and sailors of the CTTG will engage in mutual exchange activities with the Egyptian Navy through naval base visits and tours, as well as cultural excursions to the Library of Alexandria and the Pyramids at Cairo.

The defense industry exhibition aboard ROKS Hwacheon, in conjunction with the ROK ship tour, will offer an exclusive glimpse into the technological advancements of the Korean Navy.

Following its Alexandria engagement, the CTTG will journey through the Suez Canal to its next destination, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, continuing its mission of naval excellence and international cooperation.
