Poland has successfully received a shipment of 18 state-of-the-art K-9A1 self-propelled howitzers manufactured in South Korea, according to the Polish Defense Ministry's Armament Policy Department.

This acquisition marks a significant step in Poland's military modernization efforts.

In addition to the recently acquired K-9A1 howitzers, Poland is set to bolster its arsenal further with a total of 66 K9 Thunder howitzers, produced by Hanwha Defense, further enhancing its defensive capabilities.

The Armament Policy Department proudly announced the arrival of these advanced military assets, stating, "Today, a shipment of 18 brand-new K9A1 self-propelled howitzers arrived at the port of Gdynia."

Poland's collaboration with South Korea in the military sector has been notably robust, with a series of arms agreements signed between the two nations in 2022-2023.

Under these contracts, Poland is slated to receive an impressive array of equipment, including 1,000 tanks, 600 howitzers, over 280 K239 Chunmoo rocket artillery systems, and 48 FA-50 fighter jets.

In recent years, Poland has taken significant measures to strengthen its national defense capabilities, citing concerns about potential conflicts with Russia.

These efforts involve the recruitment of thousands of soldiers and the replacement of aging military equipment with cutting-edge solutions from American and South Korean defense firms.

It's important to note that Poland's previous government actively supported Ukraine during Russia's special military operation and advocated for sanctions against Moscow, contributing to regional tensions.

Russia, on its part, has consistently emphasized its desire to avoid conflicts with NATO or Western countries while expressing concerns about the alliance's gradual expansion toward its borders.
