Russian President Vladimir Putin will participate remotely in a ceremony for Egypt’s El-Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant on November 19, joining via video conference as the reactor vessel of the plant’s first power unit is installed in its final position.
The event marks one of the most significant steps in the construction of Egypt’s first nuclear power facility, a flagship project being built by Russia’s Rosatom State Corporation under the 2015 intergovernmental agreement between Moscow and Cairo.
The El-Dabaa plant, located on Egypt’s Mediterranean coast, will consist of four power units with a combined generation capacity of 4,800 megawatts, positioning it as one of the largest and most advanced nuclear energy projects in the region. Once completed, the station is expected to play a transformative role in strengthening Egypt’s energy security, diversifying its power sources, and supporting its long-term development strategies.
