The Ziad Bakir Hall at the Music Library at the Opera House, in cooperation with the Russian Cultural Center in Cairo, is hosting an art exhibition titled "Journey to the East."
The event is held at 7:00 pm on Sunday, December 15.
"Journey to the East" explores the artistic heritage of the Russian realist artist Vasily Polenov.
Polenov came to Egypt in the winter of 1881 out of his desire to make evangelical paintings about the life of Christ.

He headed east to Egypt, Palestine, and Syria to experience the places where Jesus Christ lived.
When Polenov arrived in Alexandria, he shouted, "We have finally entered the wonderful port of Alexandria and I am in Egypt and the dream came true.
He toured Egypt and documented his journey in 3 volumes.
Natalia Polenova, Polenov's great grand-daughter and a member of the Itinerants, will participate in the event.
She will share insight into his passion for the Eastern civilization and his experience in Egypt.
