The Russian embassy in Egypt issued a statement in which it responded to US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, after he claimed that Russia had destroyed tons of grain in Ukraine destined for Egypt and Romania.

The Russian embassy said, "The ill-conceived attempt by U.S. propaganda to accuse Russia of harming the interests of Egypt, which we consider a strategic partner, failed once again."

"It has long been clear that we do not strike civilian infrastructure unlike Ukrainians, who direct drones into Russian homes," it added.

It continued, "As for the food security of our Egyptian friends, we are making every effort to ensure it, and we remain a major source of many agricultural crops for Egypt."

During the past year, Russian suppliers shipped 8.1 million tons of grain to Egypt, and recently another ship coming from Russia arrived at the port of Damietta, carrying 26,000 tons of wheat.

Blinken claimed in a post on the "X" website (formerly Twitter), that "the Kremlin has destroyed yet another 13,000 tons of grain headed to feed people in Egypt and Romania. Russia’s attacks on Ukrainian grain storage, ships, and ports are starving the world. Putin’s senseless war reaches far beyond Ukraine."
