A delegation of prominent Russian authors has arrived in Cairo to participate in the 56th International Book Fair.
The group includes esteemed writer Igor Sid and celebrated critic, poet, and publisher Maxim Amelin. The delegation was warmly welcomed yesterday by Murad Gatin, Director of Russian Cultural Centers in Egypt, alongside Anna and Ekaterina Chuyenkova, representing the United Humanitarian Sciences Publishing House.
The delegation will host a symposium tomorrow at 6 PM at the Russian Cultural Center in Dokki. Notable attendees include Dr. Anwar Ibrahim, a leading translator of Russian literature in Egypt; Dr. Doaa Assi, an acclaimed author and member of Parliament; and Dr. Mohamed Nasr El-Gabaly, a professor of Russian literature and a former cultural attaché in Moscow.

Murad Gatin expressed his delight in welcoming the Russian literary delegation, emphasizing the significance of their annual visits.
He highlighted the Russian House’s commitment to supporting Russian literature in Egypt, particularly by donating Russian language and literature books to Egyptian institutions. Gatin also announced that the delegation would hold additional meetings with the Russian community in Egypt.
Critic, poet, and publisher Maxim AmelinSherif Gad praised the continued Russian participation in the Cairo International Book Fair, attributing its success to the efforts of the United Humanitarian Sciences Publishing House.
He noted that this collaboration was strengthened through a protocol of cooperation between Egypt and Russia, initiated by the Egyptian Alumni Association of Russian and Soviet Universities.
