Russian Ambassador to the US Anatoly Antonov stated that Washington has frozen its strategic stability dialogue with Moscow for an indefinite period amid the conflict in Ukraine.
"On February 25, on Washington’s initiative, the strategic dialogue <…> was frozen for an indefinite period. We were told that the [US] administration does not see arms control as its priority amid the Russian special military operation," Antonov told Russia’s Channel One on Tuesday night.
Furthermore, the ambassador asserted that Russia was ready for a serious and professional dialogue on the issue with the US side, but will not press for its resumption.
"We, the Russian side, are ready for a serious, professional conversation with the Americans on the issue, since it is in our interests, and I’m sure it is also in the interests of the US and the international community as well. But, importantly, we are not going to run after the Americans," he added.
In the same vein, he noted that the Russian-US dialogue on cyber security has been suspended with no perspective for resumption at the moment.
"At present, I see no perspectives for resuming this necessary, useful and mutually beneficial dialogue between the US and Russia," he indicated in the Bolshaya Igra (Big Game) show.
Moscow and Washington began closed consultations on cyber security following the Geneva summit.
"There were even first indications that practical results can be achieved," he said. "However, we are back to Cold War times: Russia is blamed for everything, Russia is attacking everyone, Russia must be deterred or, even better, destroyed.".
