Russia Bans Using Apple Devices for Work Purposes

The Ministry of Digital Development in Russia has prohibited employees from using iPhones and iPads for work-related purposes.

Maxut Shadayev, the Minister of Digital Development, stated at a conference, "A ban has been imposed on the use of mobile devices produced by Apple, such as smartphones and tablets, in order to prevent them from accessing work applications and exchanging work-related emails."

He further clarified that "the use of iPhones is allowed for personal needs."

The Russian ministry enacted this ban two months after the Russian internal security agency claimed that several thousand Apple devices had been compromised due to espionage conducted by the United States.

Apple has denied these allegations.

The US National Security Agency, which the Russian security agency claimed had collaborated with Apple, refrained from commenting on these claims at that time.
