On Thursday, the Royal Vehicles Museum received another carriage for restoration. It will be exhibited at the museum after finishing the process of restoration.
The Head of Museums Sectors Moa’men Hassan expressed that the Supreme Council of Antiquities team followed the required persuaders for placing and documenting the vehicle as a historical artifact.
Hassan asserted that the process of placing the carriage to the museum was done accurately and professionally.
Regarding the history of the carriage, the general manager of Royal Vehicles Dr. Ahmed El Sabagh mentioned that it dates back to the reign time of King Abbas Helmy II.
It is 3.5 meters high and 1.5 meter in width. It was carried on 4 wheels and its main compartment was made of copper, wood, and leather. This carriage was seized from smuggling by Safaga port troops and it was kept at Al Qusayr Castle.
Another restored vehicle the “Sharaban” carriage which have catchy red and black colors. In addition, it was exhibited at the museum’s Celebration Hall.
Dated back to Khepe Ismail's reign, the three-seat- carriage had a high position, as it was one of the few ones without a roof. It was used in picnics.
