Rock and Roll icon Jerry Lee Lewis died, on Friday, at the age of 87 years old after suffering from medical complications in the past few weeks.

His falling health forced Lewis to miss his induction into the County Music Hall of Fame two weeks ago.

Considered one of the founders of rock and roll in the US pop culture, he also established a shining country music carer from late 60s to early 80s.

His art was overshadowed by a life of a Southern gothic man.

His personal life included seven marriages and dozens of tragedies including the deaths of two wives and two sons.

However, Lewis stayed active on stage and on record even after crossing his 80s.

During the late 1950s, the singer was part of Sun Records' roster of Rock and Roll icons alongside Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, and Roy Orbison.

His songs "Whole Lotta Shakin' Going On" and "Great Balls of Fire," became at No. 3 and No. 2, respectively, on the Billboard Hot 100.

Both songs also headed the U.S. country charts.

Lewis was part of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame's first class of inductees in 1986. In addition, he was inducted into the Memphis Music Hall of Fame in 2019.
