Renard: Our Match against Namibia Copy of AFCON Opening

Hervé Renard, Morocco’s head coach compared his team's game against Namibia to the opening match, between Egypt and Zimbabwe.

"What happened in the opening match between Egypt and Zimbabwe has been repeated today. Teams always suffer in the first games," Renard said after Atlas Lions' first match in the AFCON.

"Namibia made it difficult for us and played a very tough game. I congratulate all the players for their fighting spirit and for the three points secured."

It is worth mentioning that Atlas Lions secured their first Africa Cup of Nations victory as they pulled off a narrow win over Namibia in Group D at Al Salam Stadium.

Namibia’s player Itamunua Keimuine scored an own goal to give the Atlas Lions their first three points in the AFCON.

This win put Morocco on top of Group D, which also contains Ivory coast and South Africa. Those two sides face each other at the same ground on Monday, June 24 at (16:30 CLT).
