Renowned Egypt's actor Wahid Saif was well-known for his satirical take on the issues of the common man. The late remarkable star brilliantly portrayed it through his effortless acting.
Saif was one of the greatest Arab comedians who made his name through his film career from the 1950s till the 2000s.
On the eighth death anniversary of the actor on Jan.19 (Wednesday), here are some interesting facts about him:-
Saif joined the university's theatre group and enrolled in the Faculty of Literature at Alexandria University.
At that time, he presented Shakespearean novels on stage; in addition to his role in the Egyptian famous play Hassan we Moro's we Kohein (Hassan, Marcus, and Cohan).
Thereafter, he joined the Al-Rihany theatre group and took on minor roles until he reached fame as an actor and comedian.
The talented comedian, who was commonly known as "King of Comedy" and also "King of Satire" acted in many successful films like 'Dol Esaba Ya Baba' (They are a Mob, Daddy) and 'Zog Ala Nar Hadeya' (Husband, Slowly Cooked) among others.
The veteran actor who was born on March 3, 1955, in Alexandria, made his breakthrough in the highly successful film (Top Secret, 1986).
In the 1990s, he shifted his career to television, starring in series like 'Abu El-Ela El-Bishry', 'Al-Mal Wel Banoun' (Fortune and Children), and 'Hekayat Aileya' (Stories of Families).
Saif has also appeared as a TV anchor in the entertainment show Star Plates on ART.
He got married three times in his life and had three children, Ashraf Seif, Inas Seif, and Iman Seif.
