Ramadan 2021: Amr Youssef to Play Ahmose I in TV Series "The King"

Egyptian actor, Amr Youssef will participate in the Ramadan 2021 drama marathon with TV series “El Malek” (the king).

Synergy and Aroma, under the auspices of the United Media Services Company, headed by businessman Tamer Morsi, have mapped out for TV series "The King".

Youssef will play king Ahmose I, who chased and removed the Hyksos from the Nile Delta.

The series, starring a large A-list cast, is adopted from "Thebes at War",  an early novel by international writer Naguib Mahfouz.

It is written by Mohamed, Khaled and Sherine Diab. The series is directed by Hussein Al-Manbawi.

"TV series "The King" will be one of the largest and most important productions for Synergy and Aroma for Ramadan 2021 drama marathon, as it features wars, horses, costumes, and decorations," producer Tamer Mortada, representing Aroma, said.

He added: "The series will be the first true pharaonic work in the modern generation that realistically deals with the life of the pharaohs; it will have the largest visual effects, which will be implemented by a team from Aroma."

On the other hand, Youssef will start shooting early September his upcoming horror film “El Tahweeda” (the Lullaby), which will be his first take on the genre.

Egyptian actress Dina El Sherbiny is set to play the female lead in the film, which will be directed by Tarek Al Eryan.

“El Tahweeda” witnesses the third cooperation between Youssef and Al Eryan. They collaborated for the first time in the 2015 film “Welad Rezk”, and in its second part “Welad Rezk 2” in 2019.

Youssef’s latest artistic work is film “Welad Rezk 2” starring Ahmed Ezz, Ahmed El Fishawy, Karim Kassem, Mohamed Mamdouh, and others.

It is worth mentioning that Youssef, born on December 23, 1980, began his career in entrainment with television commercials and music videos.

Thereafter, veteran actor Nour Al Sherif brought his talents to the public’s attention when he cast him in TV series “Al Daly” in 2007. Following this crucial step forward, Youssef’s career took off.

Since then, he appeared in “Nour Ainy” (2010), “Rad Fa’al” (2011), and the popular 2013 Ramadan drama series “Niran Sadeeka” (Friendly Fire).

Youssef is known for his roles in film “Hepta: The Last Lecture” (2016), “Welad Rezk” (2015), and “Rad Faal” (2011).

He is also known for his roles in TV series such as “Grand Hotel” (2016), “Zarf Aswad” (2015), “Ad Tanazoly” (2014), “Niran Sadeeka” (2013), and in “Al Moatn X” (2011).

Youssef is considered one of the biggest Egyptian stars and heartthrobs. In 2017, the actor tied the knot to Syrian actress, Kinda Alloush, after they announced their engagement in late November 2016.

The couple tied the knot in a huge wedding at Old Cataract Hotel in Aswan, amid the attendance of a large number of actors and public figures, on January 20.

They welcomed their first child, a girl named Hayat, on November 2nd, 2019.
