Quique Setién to Succeed Valverde in Barcelona - Paper

Spanish newspapers reported Monday that Real Betis former head coach Quique Setién would succeed Ernesto Valverde in Barcelona's managerial hot seat.

Marca newspaper revealed that three names were nominated during Barca's board of directors meeting to succeed the Spanish coach.

Mauricio Pochettino, former Tottenham manager, Real Betis former head coach Quique Setién and the current manager of Barcelona B team Garcia Pimienta were nominated for Barca's managerial seat.

"Sources have confirmed to MARCA that Quique Setien will be the new Barcelona coach," the Spanish newspaper reported.

Spanish newspaper "Sport" reported that Quique Setién would be Barcelona's favorite candidate to succeed the 55-year-old Spanish manager.

In the same context, "Catalunya Ràdio” said that Barcelona would issue a statement at (22:00) CLT, as it will annouce the sacking of Valverde.

Quique Setién led Real Betis during the last two season as he guided them to pull off 39 victories, draw in 22 and lose 36 encounters.

The Spanish League holders lost the lead in their last two games against La Liga last-placed Espanyol as they were held to a 2-2 draw.

Barca also went down to a 3-2 defeat against Athletico Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup after they went ahead with two goals.
