Russian President Vladimir Putin asserted on Wednesday that he had "no doubt" Moscow would achieve victory in Ukraine, despite military setbacks in the nearly year-long offensive.

"From the standpoint of the end result and victory, which is unavoidable, there are several things that have not gone anywhere and that lie at the foundation of our victory,” Putin said during his visit to the Obukhov State Plant.

The leader highlighted the victory’s factors, including the unity and solidarity of the Russian people, and the bravery of troops in the special military operation and on the frontline.

He also underlined the fighters of the operation of the military-industrial complex (MIC)

"Each of these links - the industry; the condition of state finances; the social sphere, including support to the families that require special attention from the state; healthcare - all this creates a foundation for our efficient development and victory. It is ensured. I have no doubts about that," Putin added.

Earlier, the president lauded his forces after they captured a Ukraine town in the wake of a missile strike that left 23 people dead in a tower block.

Taking over Soledar in eastern Ukraine, a salt-mining outpost home to 10,000 before the conflict, was hailed as a major success by Moscow after months of humiliating setbacks on the battlefield.

"There is a positive dynamic, everything is developing according to plans," Putin said in an interview. "I hope that our fighters will please us more than once again."
