Duke of Edinburgh Prince Philip has been taken to hospital in a planned admission because of a pre-existing condition as announced by Buckingham palace.
The 98-year old prince traveled from Norfolk to the King Edward VII hospital in central London for observation and treatment and is expected to stay there for a few days.
According to royal correspondents, the prince was not taken by ambulance and he is allegedly to have walked into the hospital.
In a statement, the palace said: "The Duke of Edinburgh traveled from Norfolk this morning to the King Edward VII Hospital in London for observation and treatment in relation to a pre-existing condition.. The admission is a precautionary measure, on the advice of His Royal Highness's doctor."
Prince Philip currently lives on the royal estate.
This comes as the Queen, 93, traveled to Sandringham to begin her Christmas celebrations.
According to British "Mirror", she was all smiles in a pink winter coat and light paisley headscarf as she stepped off the train at Kings Lynn, arriving from London.
Prince Charles, Camilla, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, George, Charlotte and Louis will all be joining her for the big day, however Prince Harry , Meghan Markle and baby Archie are missing out.
The Queen hosted her annual Christmas lunch for the extended family at Buckingham Palace.
The Cambridges and Tindalls were among guests seen driving into the palace, along with Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank.
According to the British source, Prince Andrew was also in attendance, despite stepping down from all royal duties over a scandal of his friendship with late sex trafficker Jeffery Epstein, and allegation that he had an affair with a minor in 2001.
It's one of the rare occasions the entire family come together, where they sit at round tables and tuck into a Sandringham-bred turkey lunch with all the trimmings.
