President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received William Burns, director of the US Central Intelligence Agency, in the presence of Hassan Rashad, head of General Intelligence service.
The meeting focused on developments in joint efforts to calm the situation in the Gaza Strip, and ways to advance negotiations to reach a ceasefire and exchange of detainees and hostages.
In this context, the President stressed the importance of the pivotal role of UNRWA and the need not to obstruct its work.
He also stressed the importance of implementing the two-state solution as it represents the way to achieve peace and security in the region.
The official spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic stated that the meeting also focused on the situation in Lebanon, as well as the mutual escalations that the region has witnessed recently, as the President stressed the importance of urgently reaching a ceasefire in Lebanon in a way that preserves its sovereignty and territorial integrity, and protects its stability and the security of its brotherly people.
President Sisi also warned of the danger of continued escalation at the regional level, with its grave repercussions on all the peoples of the region.
During the meeting, they also confirmed the strength of the established strategic partnership between Egypt and the United States, and the two countries’ keenness to continue strengthening it to protect and maintain regional security and stability.
