As part of Egypt’s efforts to promote the highly anticipated opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) in July, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi held a high-level meeting on Wednesday to review preparations for the event.

The president emphasized the importance of leveraging the inauguration to highlight Egypt’s rich cultural heritage and global historical significance.

The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy, United Media Services’ Managing Director Tarek Makhlouf, and Board Member Mohamed El-Saadi.

According to presidential spokesperson Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, discussions focused on the organizational and logistical aspects of the opening ceremony. President El-Sisi reviewed proposed plans and stressed the need to maximize the event’s impact as part of a broader strategy to enhance Egypt’s tourism sector.

“The inauguration should be a global showcase of Egypt’s contributions to world civilization while reinforcing its status as a premier cultural destination,” El-Shennawy stated.

The meeting also covered the museum’s promotional strategy, including partnerships with the private sector to launch marketing campaigns in hotels and resorts. Officials highlighted the museum’s potential to offer visitors an unparalleled experience that blends ancient Egyptian history with state-of-the-art museum technology.

El-Sisi underscored the necessity of ensuring the highest level of readiness for the inauguration while minimizing financial burdens on the state budget. He reaffirmed that the Grand Egyptian Museum is one of the most significant cultural landmarks in the world.

Furthermore, the president stressed the importance of capitalizing on the event’s momentum to boost tourism across Egypt, promoting its diverse attractions beyond the museum itself.

Located near the Giza Pyramids, the Grand Egyptian Museum is set to be the world’s largest archaeological museum, featuring thousands of artifacts, including the complete collection of Tutankhamun’s treasures. Its opening is expected to be a landmark event, drawing international attention and further cementing Egypt’s position as a global tourism and cultural hub.
