Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi received a phone call from German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

Ahmed Fahmy, the official spokesperson for the Egyptian Presidency, stated that the call addressed the regional situations and the escalating tensions in the area. President Sisi outlined Egypt's intensive efforts to achieve an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and initiatives related to the exchange of detainees in this context, aiming to protect civilians in the sector who have been suffering from dire humanitarian conditions for several months.

President Sisi emphasized the need for international community action to press for the implementation of relevant UN resolutions.

The call also discussed efforts to halt the expansion of the conflict, which is showing early signs in the region, with potentially severe consequences for the Middle East and international peace and security.

On his part, the German Chancellor commended Egypt's constructive role in the region, and both sides agreed on the importance of a two-state solution as the foundation for restoring peace, security, and stability in the area.

The spokesperson added that the call also covered ways to enhance the distinguished bilateral relations between Egypt and Germany across various dimensions.
