President Sisi Calls for Two-State Solution in Meeting with U.S. Congressional Delegation

On Monday, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with a bipartisan delegation of U.S. Congress members, led by Senator Jerry Moran of the Senate Appropriations Committee, on Monday. The meeting was attended by General Intelligence Service Chief Abbas Kamel

Presidential Spokesperson Dr. Ahmed Fahmy stated that the American delegation underscored the significant importance the United States places on its strategic partnership with Egypt. They acknowledged Egypt's pivotal role as a cornerstone of regional stability and expressed appreciation for its efforts in promoting peace and security in the Middle East.

The delegation specifically praised Egypt's crucial role in negotiating a ceasefire in Gaza, facilitating the exchange of detainees and hostages, and providing humanitarian aid to Gaza's residents. They extended their profound gratitude to Egypt and its leadership for these efforts.

The meeting included an in-depth discussion on the regional situation. President Sisi emphasized the need for intensified efforts to contain the conflict and halt ongoing hostilities, aiming to end the humanitarian crisis affecting Gaza's residents and prevent further escalation. He highlighted the risks posed by Israeli military operations in Rafah and their humanitarian and security consequences.

President Sisi also called for serious international engagement in implementing the two-state solution, in line with international legitimacy resolutions. He stressed that this approach is essential for achieving justice, peace, and security for all peoples in the region.
