Polling stations across the 14 governorates participating in the first phase of Egypt’s 2025 House of Representatives elections officially closed at 9 p.m. local time on Tuesday, marking the end of the two-day voting process that began on Monday, November 10.
The National Election Authority (NEA) announced that voting had concluded in 70 constituencies, in accordance with the schedule previously set by the authority. However, the NEA allowed polling to continue beyond the official closing time in stations witnessing heavy voter turnout, ensuring that every citizen present at the polling centers was able to cast their ballot.
According to NEA Chairman, Counselor Hazem Badawi, the next phase will involve counting the votes cast across 5,606 polling stations in the participating governorates.
As per NEA procedures, the head of each polling committee will begin the count by separating ballot boxes for individual candidates from those for the party lists, preparing a separate report for each system. The process will take place in the presence of the committee’s secretaries, candidate representatives, accredited media, election observers, translators, and international visitors.
The heads of the committees will also verify the serial numbers of the plastic seals on each ballot box against those recorded in the official documents, ensuring full transparency and procedural integrity before commencing the count.
The results of the first phase are expected to be announced following the completion of vote counting and the review of reports from all local committees.
