Prime Minister (PM) Moustafa Madbouly announced that Thursday, September 15, will be a paid day off for public and private sector employees, on the occasion of El-Mawlid El-Nabawi (celebration of Prophet Muhammad's birthday).
However, the decision allows employers the discretion to not grant the day off to employees based on work requirements. In such instances, employees should be compensated with double their regular daily wages.
This celebration takes place in Rabi' al-Awwal, the third month of the Islamic lunar calendar.
