China Eastern Airlines Boeing 737-800, carrying 132 passengers, crashed in the Guangxi region, the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) announced on Monday.
The plane was flying from Kunming to Guangzhou, according to media reports. The reports added that rescue workers had found no sign of survivors.
On his part, Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday said that he was 'shocked' by the plane crash, expressing his regret over the incident, and ordered an immediate investigation.
The cause of the crash has not yet been revealed.
