Last night, the world saw the second and biggest Supermoon phenomenon in 2023, and it will be one of two full moon phenomena in August 2023.
The second full moon of August will take place at the end of this month, and it will be called the Blue Moon.
August's full moon is called the sturgeon moon because the giant sturgeon of the Great Lakes and Lake Champlain were most caught during this part of summer. The name was inspired by the American Native cultures.
The supermoon phenomenon occurs when the moon is in its full stage and lies at the nearest point to the Earth, that’s why the size of the moon appears to be bigger by 14% and brighter by 30%.
