Traditional Christmas celebrations in Bethlehem for 2023 were canceled in solidarity with the people of Gaza, after the fierce attacks of the Israeli forces and the non-stoppable bloodshed of innocent civilians.

No colorful and brightening trees, harmonious parades, crowded festive markets, or tourists will fill the air in Bethlehem this year.

The joyful atmosphere that the city used to welcome during this time of the year has turned to dark, silence, and sorrow.

The atmosphere in Bethlehem on the eve of Christmas this year is somber, dark, sad — and political.

The traditional Christmas procession will be silent this year, and boys will pay tribute to the Children of Gaza.

Bethlehem Mayor Hanna Hanania condemned the Israeli military actions in Gaza and against its people, calling it as "ethnic cleansing" and "genocide."

Hanania said that he “cannot believe what we are watching in Gaza. These are the worst days that Palestinians have ever seen.”

Moreover, various churches in Bethlehem established various scenes to express solidarity with Gaza.
